Hypnobirthing
FAQ's
What is the best time to do the course?
The best time to do the course is between 16 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. This means you have plenty of time before the birth to practise the techniques so they are second nature during your birthing.
Can I still do the course if I’m more than 35 weeks pregnant?
It is absolutely possible and we have taught the course to a number of couples who have reaped the benefits of hypnobirthing and had very good experiences of birth. If this applies to you I would suggest calling Helen (+44 (0)7740 40 34 77) or emailing her at helen@mindandbodybirthing.com at your earliest convenience. We would advise the 2 full day intensive one- to- one Course at this point so as to ensure all your needs are met within a short period of time. Although practice is an integral part of the hypnobirthing process, the course itself is hugely beneficial in making fundamental changes before the birth of your baby. If you are more than 35 weeks pregnant please contact Helen to discuss your options.
Can HypnoBirthing still help when birth plans change or where a surgical birth is planned due to special circumstances?
The short answer – yes. The relaxation techniques, calming anchors and breathing exercises that are all taught throughout the Mind and Body HypnoBirthing course are hugely beneficial even when induction, assisted delivery or a surgical birth is required. In keeping you calm, relaxed and feeling in control of the birthing process, your partner and baby can still have a happy, calm and positive birth experience where medical intervention is needed. Please refer to the birthing stories tab on my website to hear of other families that have had very positive experiences despite medical intervention.
Do I have to attend with my birthing partner?
There is no requirement to attend with your birthing partner. Although we like to make the partner an integral part of the birthing process, through teaching supporting techniques, we are able to support women who are without a birthing partner.
What’s included in the cost?
The fee is for you and your birthing partner and includes all course materials, a copy of the KG Hypnobirthing book and the Colour and Calmness Hypnobirthing Relaxation CD. Please note, if your birthing partner is unable to attend, please email Helen to discuss costs for a single. Also included is telephone contact with Helen both during and after the course.
There is also an option for customized relaxation scripts and meditation CDs should you choose the one to one private course.
My partner and/or I are sceptical as to whether HypnoBirthing can really works for us – will this be a problem on the course?
Absolutley not. In fact, hypnobirthing works by challenging those negative/sceptical thoughts we have accumulated over the years surrounding birth. I will show you, through a number of techniques, the power of the mind and body continuum. Furthermore you will learn that it is only through the power of words and through gaining knowledge of the birthing process that hypnobirthing is so successful. All I require from you is the desire to gain the 3p’s of labour: a positive, powerful and peaceful birth for you and your baby.
